Pre-Production and Planning
I was approached to make highlight reels for the University of Brighton Men's Cricket club. To execute this I took a single camera and tripod to two of the games, one in Eastbourne and one in Falmer. Shooting outside with one camera presented me with some challenges that I had to overcome as I was fairly inexperienced in this.
Execution and Challenges
The first challenge was transporting the equipment to the games as I had to do this on public transport. Another challenge was getting enough angles to keep the highlights engaging and make them appear more high end. The transportation was not an issue in the end, but the challenge of getting different angles was tricky but I managed to do this just by moving the camera regularly and plannng shots that could be combined which made the final edit look as though there were multiple cameras.
Final Result and Reflections
Overall I was happy with this project and the outcome of it. The highlights came out really nicely and the club were very happy with them with some players asking for a compilation of their performance so they could analyse it and see how to improve. I really enjoyed the challenges of filming outdoors and being able to combine my two main passions, videography and cricket.
